CES researcher, Dr. Xiaoguang Meng, has won two NJDEP awards to investigate perchlorate and heavy metal treatment technology. The first project will test a direct reduction technique for the regeneration of perchlorate-loaded anion exchange resins.
The second project involves a literature review of treatment technologies for the removal of arsenic, mercury, nitrate, lead, total VOCs, and gross alpha from private water wells. The technologies will be evaluated and rated in terms of their availability, treatment efficacy, and cost. A database containing the water treatment technologies for the removal of the contaminants of concern from domestic water systems will be compiled.
